1. Revolution Noir Caviar Anti-Age Haircare from £13.50.

Noir Caviar is a luxurious range that's been developed to counteract hair ageing. Vitamins D, A, E and B12 work on the hair as anti-oxidants, black caviar extract from the Caspian Sea, collagen, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium Noir Caviar protects, restructure and rebuild the hair fibre. The cleanser (shampoo) gets rid of dirt and product build up without stripping the natural oils, whilst the moisturiser (conditioner) deeply softens and adds shine.

3. Electric Hair Colour Protect Shampoo and Conditioner £17.50 - £18.

If you dye your hair standard shampoos and conditioners may cause the colour to fade really quickly, especially in winter when we tend to wash it more often. It's important to use products to protect it and act as a shield against fading. Electric Hair Colour Protect Shampoo and Conditioner make your colour last longer whilst adding softness and manageably. They also smell divine and the packaging looks very chic.
4. Colour Wow Root Cover Up £28.

Little is more annoying than roots (and the odd grey hair!) showing when you are in between salon appointments, but fear no more. Colour Wow Root Cover Up works like an eyeshadow for hair. Simply apply this powder (available in light and medium blonde, light, medium and dark brown and black) to your re-growth and voila, you'll look salon-fresh!
5. Anatomicals Make Your Scalp Yelp Shampoo and The Sleek Shall Inherit The Earth Conditioner

Anatomicals Make Your Scalp Yelp Shampoo (£4.54) and The Sleek Shall Inherit The Earth (£5.30) are a great combination to use together if your hair is dry and becomes frizzy easily. The refreshing, minty shampoo cleanses your hair deeply, getting rid of any product build up, whilst the conditioner adds softness and manageability without weighing your hair down.
6. Salon Science GSP-T Swiss Grape Hair Range.

This newly launched range is formulated with Swiss grape seed procyanidins and natural tocopherol which protect against damage and colour fade. We tested the Retextuluxe Shampoo, Conditioner, Smoothing Serum, Thermal Creme and Leave In Treatment and were delighted with the results. Our hair felt soft and silky and our blow-dry still looked perfect after four days. This line comes in four different ranges for different hair types. Prices start at £13. Available from Boots.
7. Julien Farel Anti-Ageing Haircare Vitamin Restore.

We love anything that cuts our hair washing time in half but often we are wary of 2-in-1 products as they don't quite do the same job as a shampoo and conditioner. Enter Julian Farel Vitamin Restore, a one stop product to cleanse, moisturise and fortify hair, thanks to its vitamin B, C and E. Our hair felt strong, soft and was full of bounce after one use. What's more it felt weightless and halved our hair washing time. Priced at £28 and available from www.selfridges.com and Selfridges London.
8. Michael Van Clarke 3 More Inches Pre-Wash Treatment

We must admit that we weren't looking forward to adding a pre-wash treatment to our already lengthy haircare routine, however we incorporated it in our daily life by applying it whilst doing the housework, before exercising or going to bed. It needs to be left on for at least 45 minutes, then followed by shampoo and conditioner. It's well worth the effort as it leaves hair soft, shiny, manageable and nourished. Our favourite hair discovery this year. Priced at £29 for 500ml.
9. Michael Van Clarke 3 More Inches Magic Oil

Just like the Pre-Wash Treatment, Michael Van Clarke 3 More Inches Magic Oil is a truly superb product. This grease-free oil adds softness and shine to the hair and creates the perfect blow-dry, sleek look or defined curls. It also nourishes each time you use it. Top marks! 10. Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo and Conditioner

Sulfate-free, Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo and Conditioner are ideal for those with blonde or grey hair as they revive the colour and get rid of brassy tones. Kind enough to be used every day, this duo will leave you with a vibrant hue and super soft hair. £12.95 each for 300ml and available from joicoeurope.com and salons.
11. Cloud 9 Magical Potion

Cloud 9 Magical Potion is exactly what we need in this wet, damp weather. This smart product keeps humidity at bay, protects against UV rays and heat, conditions the hair and helps it dry faster. Simply spray on towel-dried hair and style as usual. We tested it over 10 days in different weather conditions and despite the rain, wind and humidity our hairstyle kept its shape longer and our mane stayed frizz-free . £17.95 from cloudninehair.com.
12. Joico K-Pak Smoothing Balm

If you like your hair straight we can't recommend Joico K-Pak Smoothing Balm enough. Apply a little bit of product to damp hair, before blow-drying or using tongs. Not only this will halve the styling time, it will keep your hair straight and softer for much longer. There's little we dislike more than spending an hour doing our hair in the morning only for it to be wavy or frizzy by lunchtime but this balm solves the problem. 13. Nicky Clarke Smooth and Shine Hot Hair Styler

Nicky Clarke Smooth and Shine Hot Hair Styler is simply perfect for the party season. This electrical brush will create the most gorgeous at home blow-dry in no time. If you have fine, limp hair, this will add volume and bounce as it dries hair, whilst if you have curls, you'll get frizz-free waves that last all night. At £24.99 we love the price too. A fraction of a blow-dry at the salon and you can use it as often as you like! Available from nickyclarke.com, Boots, Debenhams and many online outlets.
14. Keratin System K Fusion by L'Kerabelle

If your hair is dry, frizzy or coarse, a keratin system may be what you need. The wheat-derived keratin puts moisture and protein back into the hair, making it softer, manageable and healthy. First the hair is shampooed twice, the second time with a clarifying product to get rid of product build-up. The keratin is then applied to wet hair, followed by a blow-dry and straightening with tongs to seal the product in and close up pores. Some keratin treatments must be left in the hair for 3 days, but K Fusion can be washed off after 24 hours. During this time you must be careful not to get your hair wet and if you do, you must dry it right it away or the product will not penetrate deeply enough. We waited a little longer than a day before washing the keratin off and loved the results. Our hair is very soft, much more manageable (our at home blow-dry lasted for 3 days - that's never happened before!), looks good even rough-dried and there's no frizz in sight. Prices start at £153, so it's not cheap, but the treatment lasts for up to three months and it does make a real difference to hair. Perfect for this time of the year or prior to a holiday. We had the K Fusion by L'Kerabella done at Colour Nation in London, but it's available in salons nationwide.
15. Joico Vero K-Pak Color Age Defy at Eleven Salons

The Joico Vero K-Pak Color Age Defy professional colour line has been created for ageing hair and works exactly on the same principles as anti-ageing skincare. This range doesn't just last longer and cover greys better,it also replenishes, smooths and adds vitality as hair becomes coarser and drier with time. We decided to test this line at Eleven in London's Mayfair, where the super professional and lovely technical director Jason Welch took care of our locks. After the application and development of our chosen shade, our hair was washed and a clear gloss treatment was applied to add lustre and shine. This was then followed by a 5 minutes cuticle treatment, to close hair pores and seal in the colour. Finally a moisturising mask was smoothed over our hair and left on for five minutes, for softness and shine. A fabulous blow-dry finished off the look. The final result was stunning: the colour was vibrant, hair was shiny, soft and looked healthy. After a few washes it's still looking as good as when we left the salon (though our blow-dry isn't quite as gorgeous as the one by Eleven Hair!). 16. Argan Secret Magic 3

For super smooth, frizz free hair, try Argan Secret Magic 3 argan oil. Apply a few drops to freshly washed, damp hair before styling to protect it and keep your do for longer. Great for all hair types, and essential for those with dry, frizzy hair. Priced at £15.95 for 60ml and available from sallyexpress.com.
17. Yogi On The Go! Hair Wand

The Yogi On The Go! Wand heats up quickly and creates curls in a jiffy, so it's great to use when in a hurry, pop into your handbag or take travelling. The curls stay put for a long time, making it perfect for a night out or a day at the office. The only improvement it could do with is having two prongs rather than one, as you have to physically hold your hair around the stick to curl it. However, the pack comes with gloves, so there is no danger of burning your hands whilst using it. The Yogi On The Go! Wand is available from Boots, yogihairwand.com and is priced at £39.95.
18. Richard Ward Couture Hair Silk Protein Masque

Kate Middleton's hairdresser Richard Ward has created a truly superb hair care line for all needs. In this damp weather our mane has become frizzy and lifeless so we couldn't wait to test his Couture Hair Silk Protein Masque. We applied it to the hair after shampooing it and left it for 5-10 minutes. Hair felt immediately silky, strong, soft and looked very shiny. What we love is that the results are long-lasting, leaving our hair manageable and frizz-free for days after we used it. If you hair is dry this will truly take care of it. A luxurious once a week masque we highly recommend. Now you know why Kate's hair is always so gorgeous! Available from richardward.com, QVC and Amazon and priced at £23.
19. label.m Ceramic Hot Brush

label.m Hot Brushes are ideal to use when blow-drying hair as they are made of ceramic, meaning they heat up when used with a hair drier, making styling quicker and sleeker. What's more they come in different sizes: small, medium, large, xtra large and jumbo. We used the xtra large and the results were impressive: wavy, voluminous hair that looked hairdresser fresh. Apply a small amount to damp hair and then blow-dry as usual. Remember with this product less is more, so don't be tempted to add too much or your hair could become sticky. 28. Nanogen Thickening Treatment Shampoo

We've been using this shampoo and conditioner together for a few weeks now. Our hair is blonde and fine, but we have lots of it! We've been quite bad at paying it attention to it and it rarely receives the TCL it deserves. Our mane is put through the ordeal of regular highlights as well as home blow-drying so we leapt at the chance to try this thickening shampoo and conditioner. We've noticed a difference already. The shampoo doesn't lather much, but the results are impressive nonetheless. Our hair feels more full bodied after washing and the conditioner gives it a sleek finish and prevents frizz. Recommended. Enriched with palmeira Tucuma, a Brazilian fibre palm, this mask has been created to deeply hydrate dry and frizzy hair. This product smells lovely and works fast: leave it on for 5 to 20 minutes after shampooing, depending on how dry your hair is. Rinse and style. It worked wonders on our lightened, dry and brittle hair, moisturising it and adding lots of softness and shine. At £25 is not cheap but you only need to use it once a week (twice if you hair is really dry) and a small amount will go a long way. Priced at £25 and available from kerastraight.com.
31. Michel Mercier Untangle Your Day Detangle Brush

Our thick, wavy hair can be a real nightmare to brush as it's always tangled up and standard brushes break it and pull it out. So it was a real joy to use this brush. With 428 positioned bristles at 32 different heights and 16 diameters it didn't pull out or break any hair and detangled it in a matter of seconds. We also love the fact that it comes in three different sizes: one for fine, one for normal and one for thick hair. Use on dry or wet hair but don't use it for blow-drying as the bristles are made of soft plastic. When we first tried it we were thought this mask felt quite thin, but the results were impressive. Hair felt stronger, smoother, bouncier and looked shinier too. Ideal for all hair types. 34. KeraStraight Titanium Straightening Irons

This professional straightening iron with 100% titanium plates uses tourmaline technology, heats up very quickly and has an adjustable temperature control. We found that we didn't need to go over a strand of hair more than once, so the process was very quick and our hair didn't feel dry and straw-like after using these straighteners. This styling gadget is very easy to use and feels sturdy without being heavy, making it ideal to take on holiday too. We were very impressed and found it a pleasure to use. The best straightening iron we have tried and would highly recommend it. It's priced at £125 and is available from salons nationwide and at kerastraight.com.

36. Lee Stafford's My Big Fat Root Boosting Brush

This hot brush is very easy to use and it helps achieve a blow-dry at home without the use of a hair dryer. The medium sized brush works well on fine, medium and medium/thick hair and gets hot enough to work quickly. It also has three heat settings, including cool. We really liked the results and the whole process is fairly swift, the only pickle is the safety catch which could be improved as the brush sometimes gets dislodged from its body. £29.99 and available from Debenhams, Asda and leestafford.com.

The Vidal Sassoon Express Curls Hot Air Brush is specifically designed to create curls and waves whilst drying your hair at the same time. It's easy to use and we love the screw on security catch, meaning that the brush never comes loose from its body. It comes with a smaller brush too for shorter styles and to create tighter curls.
